Gates
Over the years oak tree forge has manufactured and fitted hundreds of pairs of gates, there are not many streets in the Torbay area that do not have at least one pair of our gates. As with all our Iron Work our gates are bespoke made to suit your requirements for your home. We make your gates to fit onto existing hangers if you have them in place, or we can fit new hangers into your pillars, these can be either core drill and fixed or screw plate hangers.
Driveway Gates
Here are just a few examples of what we have made for our customers. From large baronial style gates to more modest gates with simple design. We are happy to automate your gates if required from a simple push button transmitter to GSM system.
We have also manufactured a large number of Bi-folding gates if your driveway is restricted.
Front Entry Gates
These large pair of gates feature a double top rail, cages with collars, single waste and dog-bars. The end frame of the gate runs past the top rail to match the height of the rail heads, and then turned to form a shape that matches the rail heads. The drop bolts and latch also are custom detailed for this gate.

Based on our AG1 gates, this design has inset scrolls which gives it a more filled in appearance.

These driveway gates have four panels, only one panel hangs on the left, the other three fold up on the right.
This photo shows the three panels of a bi-fold gate stored open (view from the inside of the driveway).
This pair of gates have forged scroll sty's. The dog bars which are the shorter bars that go in between the main bars, finishing just above the waste, have forged heads. The gates hang off large round post's which have a nice detailed capping.
From plain streight vertical bars to more ornate design's all our work gets our full atention to detail and is manufactured and fitted to a high standard.
This gate was manufactured using thicker materials, this is to keep the gate in some sort of scale to the stone wall. The detail of the oak branch in the oval is made by us,but the rail heads are made by foundry.
We are happy to put a name or number in your gate.

This is why we take the care and time to make all our own scrolls to put into our gates, it would not be possible to get the gate as well balanced using factory made scrolls.
There are many different styles of rail heads to choose from. traditional rail heads are made by us in the forge. but others like the ones in the picture are made by the foundry.

Twisted bars can be added to a gate to give extra detail. again we tend to twist are own bars to ensure a tight twist and control where the twist start and finish on the bar.
Side Entry Gates
Below is a small selection of side entry gates,we have many more designs in our portfolio to complement any home and to provide security.
This arched gate has twisted bars,cages,rail heads and collars to create detail.
An example of a scrolled pattern gate,again we have many variations of scroll patterns, and because we make all our own scrolls tailor made for each gate, this means that the appearance of the gate looks in proportion.
This simple pattern still gives elegant appearance for lower cost.
Simple vertical bars with two pairs of twisted bars with collars, the bars go through the top rail to form a plain but effective rail head.
S scroll design with owl silhouette, this goes with railings and two very large pairs of driveway gates.
This arched gate has a double waste, with the dog bars going through the lower waste with a small sphere on top. As with all our jobs there is always an opportunity to add individual touch.
Steel Frame Timber Clad
A steel frame offers long lasting strength, it does not drop or twist like a wooden frame gate. From the outside only the outer frame is visible. This offers privacy as well as the natural appearance of wood. In the past we have used 22mm Tongue and Groove, which can be finished as desired, or you may wish to use a hardwood of your own choice.

This image shows a similar gate that has been clad with treated external 22mm tongue and groove, and then further treated with a black stain. When viewed from the outside, only the outer frame is visible.
This large security gate is made from box section with mesh infill, the top of the gate is angled outwards with barbed wire threaded through the top.
